AUTUMN WORK
Kiwifruit Harvest
During the harvest season (between March and June) we employ over 100 backpackers who work together in teams to pick kiwifruit.
Each team is made up of approximately 18 people plus a tractor driver and a team supervisor. You will learn the best techniques, enjoy working outside and meet new people.
SPRING WORK
Flower Picking
During pollination season in November, we hire over 50 backpackers to pick flowers on orchards and 10 backpackers to help mill flowers onsite. Pickers travel between different orchards with support from a supervisor to select suitable flowers for processing. Millers process those flowers and maintain machinery back at the main shed.
Pickers will learn the difference between male and female vines and how to identify which flowers are suitable to pick plus spend the day outside in the sun under flowering vines. Millers learn how to run the processing machinery, working indoors through the afternoons and evenings.
ALL SEASONS
Orchard Work
Through winter and summer we employ a smaller team to help us manage and maintain vines and orchard structures. This work can be more diverse and includes pruning, thinning fruit, nurturing young vines, canopy maintenance, and at times plant conversion. You'll be taught skills on the job and provided support in a team environment.
